Richards Bay FC complete Tlakusani Mthethwa signing

FARPost has established that Richards Bay FC have completed the signing of former Moroka Swallows midfielder Tlakusani Mthethwa.

The Natal Rich Boyz are now active in the transfer market after the world’s football governing body, FIFA, lifted their transfer ban. The club settled their outstanding debt of R230,000 owed to former player Ovella Ochieng, which resulted in the ban being lifted.

Having just competed in the PSL Playoffs last month to retain their top-flight status, the club is looking to bolster its squad to avoid the relegation zone in the upcoming season.

After keeping hold of their DStv Premiership spot, the club’s chairman Jomo Biyela pledged to strengthen the team this transfer window.

TLAKUSANI MTHETHWA SNATCHED BY RICHARDS BAY

According to FARPost sources, Richards Bay have snapped up Tlakusani Mthethwa to reinforce their midfield ahead of the new season.

Mthethwa’s availability arose following the acquisition of the Dube Birds’ club status by Marumo Gallants.

Mthethwa has finally departed the club after a tumultuous period in the 2023/24 season. He was initially among a group of players sacked due to a player protest over unpaid salaries. However, the decision was reversed, and he returned for the second half of the season.

He played 73 matches in Swallows colours, providing three assists in the process. Mthethwa joins Tercious Malepe, Boikanyo Komane, Langelihle Mhlongo and Bandile Ndlovu in the central midfield position at Richards Bay.

However, Malepe’s future hangs in the balance after the expiry of the deal signed at the start of the year.
