Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo has offered his opinion on whether his former teammate Itumeleng Khune should hang up his gloves or continue his playing.
Khuzwayo was in the goalkeeping department with Khune for six years after signing for Amakhosi in 2012 from AmaZulu FC.
He was the second choice until he left the club to join Orlando Pirates before he was forced by injury to retire.
Now, Khune is currently facing an uncertain future as his contract expired at the end of June. Having been reportedly offered a non-playing role, it leaves his future as a player with the club unclear.
Knowing Khune well, Khuzwayo weighed in on the current situation of his former colleague.
Khuzwayo emphasised that the Ventersdorp-born โkeeper shouldn’t be swayed by people’s opinions and should make the decision based on his own feelings.
He has urged the 37-year-old, Khune to make a wise decision if he considers other opportunities coming his way, stating that other clubs won’t provide the same environment as Kaizer Chiefs.

KHUZWAYO ON WHAT ITUMELENG KHUNE MUST DO
โI think itโs all up to him now, feeling his body, what it tells him?,โ said Khuzwayo.
โNo one can decide for you when to retire. Heโs the one who must actually say, now Iโm right. No one can actually tell a player, if heโs not injured, that theyโre finished and they must stop playing.
โIf he still feels like he needs to continue, he must continue but for me, the smartest move that he can actually make is to weigh options because outside of Kaizer Chiefs, itโs not as nice as it is at Kaizer Chiefs.
โYou get everything there, that is a proper professional team. Not many teams get that.
โItโs like a child born in the silver spoon, when you get outside youโll realise that the training socks arenโt the same.
โThereโs a lot that happens that is hidden. But for him, itโs him who can feel his body if itโs right or not to retire. For me, as Brilliant, I will say it must be his choice, not anyoneโs choice.โ
