Sibusiso Vilakazi resurfaces at SuperSport United
Experienced attacker Sibusiso Vilakazi has resurfaced at SuperSport United following the expiry of his contract at Sekhukhune United.
Vilakazi is looking to get his career back on track after struggling to get game time in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign at Sekhukhune.
The 34-year-old midfielder featured in 13 appearances across all for Sekhukhune United without scoring or providing an assist. Vilakazi joined Babina Noko during the 2023 January transfer window after leaving TS Galaxy due to a fallout with the club’s head coach, Sead Ramovic.
Villa initially signed a six months contract at Sekhukhune before it was renewed for a further year at the start of the previous season.
Before joining the Limpopo-based side, Vilakazi also played for teams such as Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns, where he won a handful of trophies.
SIBUSISO VILAKAZI IS TRAINING WITH SUPERSPORT UNITED
With the transfer window officially open, Vilakazi is training with SuperSport United with the aim of getting a contract.
The former Bafana Bafana international has been training with Matsatsantsa since last week when they returned from the off-season.
“Sibusiso Vilakazi is currently training with SuperSport United after leaving Sekhukhune United,” a source told FARPost.
“In the past few seasons, he hasn’t played football on a regular basis, so he’s looking to get back to enjoying football again. And we know Vilakazi’s quality and with a coach that believes in him, we can see the best of him again.”
Meanwhile, SuperSport have already parted ways with Siyanda Xulu, Keegan Allan, and Selaelo Rasebotja as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Another big name that is on the wishlist of SuperSport United is Keagan Dolly, who left Kaizer Chiefs after the expiry of his contract.
