Cape Town City make eighth signing for the new season

Cape Town City FC is wasting no time in shaping its squad for the upcoming season. It has secured its eighth signing ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, further bolstering the squad.

The new recruit, Sibusiso Ziba, adds to a busy transfer window for the Citizens, who are clearly aiming to make a strong push in the new PSL season.

A day ago, the Citizens confirmed that they had acquired the services of experienced Angolan star Carlinhos. The 29-year-old joined the club as a free agent after parting ways with Angola giants Petro de Luanda. Then, on Wednesday, a new player joined the team.

In the past weeks, the Capetonians have restructured their team by bringing in several players: Namibian international Prins Tjiueza, experienced midfielder Haashim Domingo, youngster Kayden Francis, former Orlando Pirates star Fortune Makaringe, Elson Sithole and Lefa Aphane.

In refreshing the team, CT City parted ways with six players: Brice Ambina, Thabiso Kutumela, Jo Paciencia, Relebogile Mokhuoane, Bongani Mpandle, and Khanya Leshabela.

The John Comitis-owned team has been active in the current transfer market. They didn’t perform very well last season due to inconsistent performances.

CT City finished sixth in the league, but they failed to make an impression in the domestic cup competitions. In the MTN8, they lost in the quarter-finals, then in the Carling Knockout Cup, they exited the competition in the Last 16, and in the Nedbank Cup, they lost in the Last 32.

CAPE TOWN CITY FC ANNOUNCE THE SIGNING OF SIBUSISO ZIBA

The club made an announcement of their new acquisition by posting on their official social media accounts on Wednesday.

“The club is delighted to announce the signing of South African defender Sibusiso Ziba. He joins the Citizens on a four-year deal,” reads the brief club statement.

Ziba is a 25-year-old right-back linking up with CT City from Motsepe Foundation Championship side JDR Stars.

Previously, there were news making rounds that Ziba has agreed to join CT City. However, JDR Stars owner and coach Nditsheni Nemasisi said it’s just rumours when asked by FARPost.

The talented defender will face a very uphill task to break into the team’s starting line-up. Great players like Thamsanqa Mkhize and academy graduate Patrick Fisher are in his position.
