CT City complete signing of Kamohelo Mokotjo

Cape Town City FC have announced that they have secured the services of highly-rated midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo as they gear up for the new PSL season.

Mokotjo, a seasoned campaigner with over a decade of experience playing abroad, is a massive coup for CT City.

After two decent seasons with Sekhukhune, Mokotjo had become a talisman. His experience proved invaluable, steering Babina Noko to the 2023 Nedbank Cup final, CAF Confederation Cup qualification, and a commendable fourth-place finish last campaign.

Many expected Mokotjo to either extend his stay with the club or make a move to one of the ‘big three’ of SA football. However, CT City, with their ambitious project under coach Eric Tinkler, who is meticulously assembling a squad capable of mounting a serious title challenge in the 2024/25 season, managed to lure the midfield maestro.

Mokotjo joined ‘The Citizens’ on a free transfer after his Sekhukhune chapter closed. The terms of the 33-year-old’s deal with CT City were not made public.

Mokotjo Joins Cape Town City as Ninth Signing

The former Bafana Bafana international becomes CT City’s ninth signing during the current transfer window, following the addition of experienced players such as Haashim Domingo, Fortune Makaringe, and Carlinhos. CT City also welcomed Lefa Aphane, Kayden Francis, Prince Tjiueza, Elson Sithole, and Sibusiso Ziba.

Cape Town City is delighted to confirm the acquisition of South African midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo. Welcome to the club, Kamo,” reads the brief club statement.

Mokotjo, who is a product of the SuperSport United Academy, spent the bulk of his playing days abroad, showcasing his talents in the Dutch league with Twente FC, PEC Zwolle, Excelsior Rotterdam, and Feyenoord. He also had a stint in England with Brentford FC and FC Cincinnati in the USA.
