Jomo Cosmos star Letlapa to jet off to join FK Banga Gargždai in Lithuania
Jomo Cosmos star Vuyo Letlapa is set to jet off to Lithuania to join FK Banga Gargždai following an impressive 2023/24 season in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.
The exciting wing-back was also on the wishlist of the DStv Premiership newbies Magesi FC as they prepare for their first season in the SA top-flight.
Magesi gained promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship with two games to spare, beating AmaTuks to the tightly contested title race. Dikwena won 16 league matches, drew nine, and lost five times in 30 matches. They collected 57 points, which was enough to seal automatic promotion to the Premiership.
Meanwhile, a few weeks ago, Jomo Cosmos boss Jomo Sono told this publication that Letlapa will not be moving to Magesi. The legendary Sono also revealed that the highly-rated defender will not be joining any PSL club because he is sealing a deal abroad.
Lepatla was one of the outstanding performers for Ezenkosi in SA’s third division, but the team missed out on qualification for the just-ended ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs.
The 20-year-old left full-back has featured in 32 matches in the Motsepe League. He scored four goals and provided 13 assists.
Letlapa has been with Cosmos since the 2021/22 campaign when they were relegated to from second-tier league.
VUYO LETLAPA AWAITS HIS VISA TO COMPLETE A MOVE TO LITHUANIA
FARPost has gathered that the Mpumalanga-born star is waiting for his Visa to fly to Lithuania and sign with FK Banga.
“Vuyo Letlapa is only waiting for his travelling paperwork to complete his move to Lithuania,” a source close to the situation said.
“The boy will be joining a club called FK Banga Gargždai in Lithuania, they’ve been looking at him for a long time now. And I can say that the deal is finally happening.
“It’s very uncommon for players in the ABC Motsepe League to move to Europe and this tells you that this boy is real quality. Knowing his qualities in defending and his attacking prowess, I have no doubt this boy will raise the SA flag very high.”
