Chippa United sign Aphelele Teto from Scottish side Livingston FC

Chippa United have confirmed the signing of right-winger Aphelele Teto ahead of the new PSL season.

The former TS Galaxy man, Teto, joins the Chilli Boys from Scottish Championship side Livingston FC.

The Chilli Boys did not reveal Teto’s contract length, but according to local reports, the 21-year-old joins the Gqeberha-based outfit on a loan deal from the Scottish professional football club.

The talented right-winger completed his move to Livingston in July 2023 following his impressive displays in the Rockets colours.

Ever since joining Livingston last year, the rising star has yet to receive his work permit in Scotland, something that may have forced Livingston to loan him to Chippa for game time.

Teto’s football career blossomed when he was playing for Galaxy’s Reserve team, competing in the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] and was promoted to the senior team during the 2021/22 campaign.

Since his promotion to Galaxy’s first team, Teto never looked back as he grabbed the opportunity with both hands and made the most of every chance he got to represent the Mpumalanga-based side.

During his stay at the Rockets, the right-winger played a total number of 19 games across all competitions.

Teto caught the attention of Livingston during Galaxy’s pre-season camp in Turkey in December 2022.

OTHER PLAYERS SIGNED BY CHIPPA UNITED

Teto became the third player to be unveiled by Chippa in this transfer window period following the acquisitions of former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Andile Jali and Giovanni Philander, who plays as a winger.

The former Bafana Bafana international, Jali, joined the Chilli Boys after cutting ties with Moroka Swallows, who have already sold their DStv Premiership status to Marumo Gallants.

Meanwhile, Philander signed for Chippa from SAFA Western Cape ABC Motsepe League side, FN Rangers. Philander caught the eyes of Chippa following his outstanding performances at the 2023/24 ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs held in Upington, Northern Cape.

Chippa are expected to make more announcements of their new signings before the new campaign commences.
