With Ambina ‘permanently’ gone, what’s next for Fasika at CT City?

Cape Town City FC chairman John Comitis has given an update on the future of Nathan Idumba Fasika, who’s currently out on loan at Vålerenga in Norway.

The defender signed with the Norwegian team alongside Fidel Brice Ambina on a loan deal until December. Vålerenga had the option to purchase the pair permanently if they were impressed.

Ambina penned a three-year deal with the Norwegian 1 Division side.

FARPost recently spoke to Cape Town City chairman John Comitis, who hinted that Fasika wouldn’t be returning to the club. However, he clarified that the decision on the Congolese defender’s future lies with Vålerenga.

UPDATE ON NATHAN FASIKA’S FUTURE

“Vålerenga will decide what they’re going to do with him,” Comitis told this publication. “I don’t think he’s coming back [upon the end of the loan spell].”

The highly-rated defender joined Cape Town City in 2021, signing a five-year deal from the Congolese club FC Saint Eloi. His contract with the Citizens expires in June 2026.

He was quick to make an impact, earning a regular starting spot in the team. He made 39 appearances and scored two goals across all competitions. However, while at City, he struggled somewhat with an injury.

Meanwhile, at Vålerenga, Fasika has featured in five matches in team B and seven in the first team.

ZIBA AND MOKOTJO BROUGHT IN AS REPLACEMENTS

Sibusiso Ziba and Kamohelo Mokotjo have been brought in as replacements for Fasika and Ambina among the new arrivals at the club.

The Citizens have also signed Fortune Makaringe, Haashim Domingo, Carlinhos, Kayden Francis, Elson Sithole, Lefa Aphane and Prins Tjiueza.
