R100 million sponsorship deal ushers in new era for Richards Bay with fresh talent

In a move that signals a new era, Richards Bay FC have secured a whopping R100 million sponsorship deal and unveiled their new players ahead of the new 2024/25 PSL season.

As first reported by FARPost, the Natal Rich Boyz confirmed the acquisitions of midfielders Siyethemba Sithebe, Tlakusani Mthethwa, striker Thabiso Kutumela and defender Keegan Allan.

The former AmaZulu FC man, Sithebe joins the KwaZulu-Natal outfit after his contract with Kaizer Chiefs was not renewed when the season ended.

Sithebe only managed to feature in 11 league games for the Soweto giants in the last term. His playing time at Chiefs last campaign was affected by the injury he sustained, which kept him on the sidelines for quite some time.

Allan forms part of Richard Bay after leaving Tshwane side SuperSport United, where he played in 22 games across all competitions last season for his former side.

Mthethwa was another confirmed new recruit joining the club from Moroka Swallows. He featured in 23 games in all competitions for Maswaiswai last season.

The Natal Rich Boyz also confirmed the signing of frontman Kutumela, who was in the books of Mamelodi Sundowns. Kutumela spent last season on loan at Cape Town City FC, where he played 28 games in all competitions and scored three goals in the process.

The club also roped in talented defenders Fezile Gcaba and Sbani Mntungwa, who were with the KZN ABC Motsepe League side Mkhumbane Classic FC.

RICHARDS BAY ANNOUNCE NEW SPONSORSHIP DEAL

Richards Bay went on to make an official announcement revealing Phakwe Gas as their new title sponsor.

The sponsorship deal is worth R100 million on a three-year deal.

Last season, Richards Bay had a bad season. They had to fight for their lives to save their DStv Premiership status after finishing 15th in the SA elite league with 30 points after 30 games.

Luckily, the Natal Rich Boyz managed to sustain their status as they went on to win the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs. They competed against two Motsepe Foundation Championship sides, AmaTuks and Baroka FC.
