Yagan Sasman trying his luck at DStv Prem newbies
Former Moroka Swallows and Kaizer Chiefs defender Yagan Sasman is trying his luck with the DStv Premiership newcomers Magesi FC as the new season is fast approaching.
FARPost has gathered that Sasman has been training with the club in the past weeks with the hope of securing a permanent deal.
After parting ways with the Swedish club AFC Eskilstuna, the 28-year-old centre-back has been without a club since January 2024.
Sasman joined the Swedish side in August 2023 after he departed from the Dube Birds, who have sold their DStv Premiership status to Marumo Gallants.
When Sasman signed for Eskilstuna, the outfit was already in their second half of the season, competing in the Swedish second tier.
Unfortunately, Eskilstuna couldn’t survive the chop in the Swedish second tier as they were relegated after finishing the campaign at the bottom of the table [16th place] with 31 points from 30 outings.
In his football career, Sasman also had his fair share of play at Ajax Cape Town, now known as Cape Town Spurs, where he started at their youth development structures.
With that being said, this website understands that Magesi has yet to decide on the player’s future at the club.
OTHER PLAYERS LINKED WITH A MOVE TO MAGESI FC
As reported by this publication a few weeks ago, two ex-Amakhosi players have been linked with moves to Dikwena tša Meetse. The two are Darrel Matsheke and Kgaogelo Sekgota, who are midfielders.
Matsheke is reported to be on the newly promoted side’s radar as it aims to strengthen its squad in its first season in the SA elite league.
Meanwhile, Sekgota began training with the team about a week ago, with the player hoping to revive his football at Magesi.
In addition, the likes of former Orlando Pirates defender Diamond Thopola have cut ties with Magesi and he’s now a free agent to join any team of his choice.
Goalkeeper Elson Sithole left the Clinton Larsen-coached side to join Cape Town City as a replacement for the departed goalie Bongani Mpandle.
