Golden Arrows complete Edward Maova signing

Golden Arrows have completed the signing of goalkeeper Edward Maova from AmaTuks, FARPost has been informed.

Abafana Bes’thende are strengthening their goalkeeping department after experiencing difficulties in that position during recent seasons.

They recently welcomed back the Ugandan shot-stopper Ismail Watenga on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns. He started training with the club this week.

They also have Sifiso Mlungwana and Nkosingiphile Gumede in the goalkeeping department.

EDWARD MAOVA WAS SPOTTED AT GOLDEN ARROWS

The highly-rated goalkeeper, Maova, was spotted at Golden Arrows this week and has understandably finalised a move to the Durban club.

He’s being brought in as a replacement for Olufemi Kayode who parted ways with the club at the end of the season.

AmaTuks triggered a one-year option on the Namibian goalkeeper, Maova a few months ago, meaning Arrows had to stump up an amount of money demanded by the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper was on the radar of SuperSport United. The Tshwane-based club is seeking an experienced shot-stopper following the departure of Ricardo Goss, who returned to his parent club, Mamelodi Sundowns.

He was also linked with Kaizer Chiefs who’re reportedly looking to bolster their goalkeeping department with Itumeleng Khune’s future still uncertain.

GOLDEN ARROWS PLAYER MOVEMENTS SO FAR

Keenan Phillips remains the only signing for the KZN side at the moment, having joined the club on a free transfer.

He had been unattached for six months following his departure from Moroka Swallows in the midseason.

Apart from Kayode, Arrows also let go of defender Siyavuya Ndlovu and left-winger Thubelihle Magubane upon the end of their contracts.

From a goalkeeping perspective, Maova’s arrival will complement Watenga’s return to the team.

On the other hand, Arrows are still searching for a new coach after the departure of Steve Komphela who returned to Mamelodi Sundowns.
