Chiefs reveal expected return dates for four injured players
Kaizer Chiefs have provided an update on the injury status of four players who did not travel to Turkey for the team’s training camp, shedding light on their anticipated return to action.
Chiefs are in Istanbul under the watchful eye of their new coach, Nasreddine Nabi, as they prepare for the new season.
Nabi, who recently penned a two-year contract with an option to extend it by one year, is expected to bring back the glory days at Naturena. The Soweto giants recently ended their ninth season without silverware.
The highly rated CAF Confederation Cup winner will work alongside Khalil Ben Youssef, his first assistant coach, and Fernando Da Cruz, his second assistant coach. In addition, his technical team includes a Goalkeeping coach, Ilyes Mzoughi and Safi Majdi, a Strength and conditioning coach, and an assistant coach.
However, Nabi and his team are hard at work ahead of the 2014/15 season, and they are currently without the quartet of Tebogo Potsane, George Matlou, Dillan Solomons, and Mduduzi Mdantsane. Long-time team physiotherapist Dave Milner provided an update on their progress.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTED RETURN DATES FOR CHIEFS’ INJURED FOUR PLAYERS
Tebogo Postane: The winger is recovering well from groin surgery. He is expected to return to training in approximately two weeks.
Dillan Solomons. The speedy fullback started running and rehabilitation after shoulder surgery. A full return to action is expected in nine weeks.
George Matlou: Currently in the gym and doing light running following knee surgery. Full recovery is expected in October.
Mduduzi Mdantsane: The midfielder underwent surgery for a broken jaw sustained in a recent car accident. He anticipates returning to play in three months.
Ashley Du Preez initially remained behind as he was in the final stages of his recovery. Two days after they left Johannesburg, he joined the team in Istanbul. The former Stellenbosh FC winger is currently doing light training.
Meanwhile, Milner expressed his satisfaction with the players’ progress and conveyed the team’s wishes for their speedy recoveries.
