Nhlanhla Mgaga training with Marumo Gallants

FARPost has established that former Stellenbosch FC attacking midfielder Nhlanhla Mgaga is training with Marumo Gallants, who recently bought Moroka Swallows’ DStv Premiership status.

This comes after Mgaga parted ways with Stellies when his contract ended last month. He joined the Cape Winelands-based outfit from Baroka FC in June 2022.

Last season, the 28-year-old footballer had a fair share of play in Stellenbosch colours, having featured in 37 games across all competitions. Overall, he made 63 appearances for the Steve Barker-coached side.

To top it off, the talented attacker played a significant role in helping Stellenbosch be crowned the Carling Knockout champions and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

Mgaga will be hoping to impress Bahlabane Ba Ntwa’s technical team and secure himself a permanent deal with the club.

Before Mgaga could leave Stellenbosch, he was linked with a move to the KwaZulu-Natal side, AmaZulu FC. However, Usuthu seem to have shifted their focus elsewhere.

WHO ARE THE OTHER PLAYERS TRAINING WITH MARUMO GALLANTS

As reported by this publication a few days ago, Mgaga is not the only player on trial at Gallants, as the team aims to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The club also is assessing former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Nicholus Lukhubeni, ex-Kaizer Chiefs players Kamohelo Mahlatsi and Kgotso Moleko, and Edwin Gymah, who recently cut ties with Sekhukhune United.

This past Tuesday, Gallants confirmed that they have relocated to Bloemfontein in the Free State province, and they will play their home matches at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium, with big fixtures scheduled to take place at Toyota Free State Stadium.

Gallants’ technical team will be led by Dylan Kerr as their head coach. Kerr is not a stranger to the club, as he was there when the side reached the semi-finals of the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup.
