Thabang Sibanyoni’s situation explained after Sundowns contract renewal

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Thabang Sibanyoni’s representative has provided clarity on the player’s situation amidst his recent contract extension and reported interest from various clubs seeking his services on loan.

Following his return from national duty at the COSAFA Cup, the Sundowns striker finds himself in the midst of transfer speculation. With a year left on his contract after the club triggered an extension, Sibanyoni could be sent for another loan spell.

He spent last season at Pretoria University. Richards Bay FC has emerged as a potential destination for the talented forward, leading the race to secure his services on loan.

DStv Premiership newcomers Magesi FC have also expressed interest in acquiring the player. Cape Town Spurs are also keen on luring the 28-year-old forward to the Mother City. However, as of yet, no formal agreement has been reached between any of the interested clubs and Sundowns.

WHAT THABANG SIBANYONI’S REPRESENTATIVE SAID ABOUT HIS SITUATION

Sibanyoni’s representative, Themba Shabalala, shed light on the situation. “There’s been no official communication from the club regarding his future,” Shabalala told FARPost.

“Any team interested in acquiring his services needs to initiate discussions with Sundowns, as they hold his contract. Our priority is ensuring he finds a club that offers a positive environment, excellent coaching, and a platform for him to thrive.”

As the transfer window progresses, Sibanyoni’s next move will undoubtedly be a subject of much anticipation. Despite being loaned out to JDR Stars, Sekhukhune United, University of Pretoria, and SuperSport United since joining the Sundowns senior team in the 2019/20 season, Sibanyoni remains determined to showcase his talent at his parent club.

In a recent interview with FARPost, he expressed his eagerness for an opportunity to compete at Sundowns, stating, “In football, sometimes all you need is just a chance. I also need a chance to play at Sundowns and compete with everyone.”
