Inside the six-hour meeting that brought Daniel Msendami to Marumo Gallants

Newly signed Marumo Gallants winger Daniel Msendami’s agent has opened up on the six-hour meeting that proved pivotal in the club securing the 23-year-old’s signature.

Marumo announced the signing of the Zimbabwe international on Monday, ending speculation about his future. Msendami, a sought-after talent, was at the centre of a bidding war, with interest pouring in from clubs across South Africa and the continent.

AmaZulu, Cape Town Spurs, Stellenbosch, and SuperSport United were all vying for his services within the DStv Premiership. Meanwhile, international giants TP Mazembe [DRC], Simba SC [Tanzania], and APR [Rwanda] also expressed keen interest in acquiring the Zimbabwean star.

However, Marumo Gallants ultimately won the race, thanks to a strategic and comprehensive approach during a six-hour meeting that addressed both Msendami’s personal and professional needs.

His agent, Tshepo More of MFA Agency, revealed that Marumo Gallants’ representatives went above and beyond to demonstrate their commitment to Msendami’s well-being, both on and off the field. A key factor in their success was their emphasis on accommodating Msendami’s family, ensuring their comfort and happiness in the transition to South Africa.

This approach resonated deeply with the player and agent, who were impressed by Marumo’s attention to detail and genuine concern for Msendami’s personal life. Additionally, the club presented a clear and compelling vision for Msendami’s role in the team, outlining how his skills and experience would be utilised to maximum effect.

“In our six-hour discussion, a recurring theme with every club was his family,” More told FARPost. “Would they accommodate his family? This was crucial. His happiness and peace were tied to his family’s well-being, including his daughter’s schooling.”

He added that the club’s history of selling players to big clubs like Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates made them a compelling choice. In recent seasons, Marumo have sold the likes of Ranga Chivaviro to Chiefs and the duo of Phillip Ndlondlo and Katlego Otladisa are at Orlando Pirates

For Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, securing Msendami represents a significant coup. The Zimbabwean international brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success, having made a name for himself domestically and internationally. His arrival will bolster the team’s attacking prowess and boost their quest for a top-eight finish.

MARUMO GALLANTS WASN’T ON THE RADAR INITIALLY

“PSL clubs weren’t the only ones interested; African clubs like TP Mazembe, APR, and Simba were also in the mix. After careful consideration between April and now, we made a decision. Marumo Gallants wasn’t initially on our radar. I believed he was still developing, and we wanted to find a club without a massive reputation.”

“When Marumo reached out, we knew they were restructuring. This scenario seemed ideal for his growth alongside the team. The chairman and general manager showed immense interest during a six-hour meeting that sealed the deal. Their welcome, energy, and attention to detail were truly impressive.”

Botswana’s two-time league title has consistently proven himself over the years. His energy, effort, and unwavering mindset in every game are undeniable.

Despite the noise surrounding Msendami at the end of the 2022/23 season, he had a year left with Galaxy. “We anticipated a farewell season, given their CAF participation and desire for him to stay. More offers were expected after another season, especially considering his CAF Champions League performance,” explained More.
