Veluyeke Zulu resurfaces at Baroka FC

Former AmaZulu FC defender Veluyeke Zulu has been spotted training with Motsepe Foundation Championship club Baroka FC as the team gears up for the new season.

This development follows recent rumours that Zulu had joined Orlando Pirates in Spain for their pre-season training camp, but it appears he may be exploring other options within South Africa instead. The 29-year-old footballer has been without a club since parting ways with Usuthu at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Zulu joined the KwaZulu-Natal outfit in July 2022 following his impressive displays from Chippa United, where he managed to make 27 appearances and contributed two goals. At Usuthu, he made 18 appearances.

In addition, since Zulu made his debut in the DStv Premiership, he participated in 52 games across all competitions, having also had stints with Maritzburg United, Royal Eagles, Golden Arrows, and Richards Bay.

At some point, when he played for the Natal Rich Boyz and the Chilli Boys, his stellar performances raised that linked him with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

This publication has it on good authority that Zulu has been training with Bakgaga in the past weeks, as pictured above.

The defender will be hoping to impress Baroka’s technical team and secure a permanent deal with the side.

If Baroka decides to bring Zulu, he will be expected to add value to Bakgaga’s defensive options, given his extensive experience of the beautiful game.

Last season, Baroka finished in position three with 47 points from 30 outings, which helped them to qualify for the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs.

Unfortunately, Bakgaga were not lucky enough to secure a promotion to the SA elite league after Richards Bay managed to sustain their DStv Premiership status.
