Agent explains Sibande’s switch from Stellenbosch to TS Galaxy

Experienced football agent Mike Makaab has explained why Qobolwakhe Sibande made the switch from Stellenbosch FC to TS Galaxy.

Sibande signed with the Rockets for the 2024/25 DStv Premiership season after struggling for regular game-time at Stellies.

The talented left-back played 28 matches across all competitions for Stellenbosch last season, and he was used as a second-half substitute in most of his appearances.

Sibande played second fiddle to Fawaaz Basadien in the left-back position at Stellenbosch as they finished third on the log standings and won the first-ever edition of the Carling Knockout Cup.

Despite struggling to break into the starting lineup under Steve Barker, Sibande showed huge potential whenever he was given a chance.

The 24-year-old, who can play as a left-winger, left-back and left-footed centre-back, was announced on Wednesday by Galaxy.

Sibande was signed alongside Victor Letsoalo, Thamsanqa Masiya, Siphesihle Maduna, Khulumani Ndamane, Ntiyiso Bombi, Jegbay Morris, and Emanuel Seih.

WHAT DID MIKE MAKAAB SAY ABOUT QOBOLWAKHE SIBANDE?

With Sibande presented with an opportunity for a fresh start, his representative Mike Makaab says his client is moving because Basadien made the left-back position his own at Stellenbosch.

“Qobolwakhe Sibande is very excited about his transfer to TS Galaxy because it’s a fresh start for him,” Makaab told FARPost.

“He has seen limited game-time understandably, but I do believe that he’s an incredible talent with great athleticism, a very modern football player, and I think that TS Galaxy could be an amazing launching path for unleashing the potential we all believe he has.

“I want to thank the charming of TS Galaxy, Mr [Tim] Sukazi, and the coach [Sead Ramovic] for their belief in the player.

“We are confident that he will deliver what they expect from him because Basadien has done really well in the left-back position, so he couldn’t play. But like I said, this is the right time for Sibande to prove his worth.”
