Mike Makaab provides update on Mhango’s future after Swallows sale

Prosport International CEO Mike Makaab has provided an update on the future of Gabadinho Mhango following the sale of Moroka Swallows.

Swallows sold their DStv Premiership status to Marumo Gallants ahead of the 2024/25 season due to financial constraints. The Dube Birds faced financial difficulties, which saw them deadlocked in salary disputes with the players last season.

As a result, Swallows players boycotted two DStv Premiership matches against Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows in December 2023.

Meanwhile, Gallants proposed purchasing Swallows status at the end of the previous season, which the PSL approved a few weeks ago. The Limpopo-based side is buying a status for the second time after purchasing Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC [TTM] in 2021.

WHAT DID MIKE MAKAAB SAY ABOUT GABADINHO MHANGO?

While Mhango has been the subject of speculation after the sale of Swallows, his agent, Makaab, has revealed that his client is likely to spend the upcoming season with Gallants.

The Malawian international joined the Soweto-based side at the start of last season from AmaZulu FC. In his first season at Moroka Swallows, Mhango scored eight goals and provided one assist in 28 appearances across all competitions.

“Gabadinho Mhango is at Marumo Gallants, he’s likely to stay there for the upcoming season,” Makaab told FARPost when asked about interest in Mhango.

In addition, Mhango has reportedly attracted interest from Premiership teams such Chippa United and Richards Bay FC.

Chippa recently made a big signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates midfielder Andile Jali to build a competitive squad for the next campaign.

They also signed Aphelele Teto, Boy Madingwane, Giovanni Philander, Thobani Jacobs, Sifiso Mazibuko, Blessing Jali, and Xolani Sithole.

On the other hand, the Natal Rich Boys bagged a R100 million sponsorship from Phakwe Gas, which will amplify the club’s ambitions to compete in the transfer market.
