Decision taken after TS Galaxy Queens fail to honour league fixture

The Hollywoodbets Super League has taken a decision after TS Galaxy Queens failed to honour their league match against the University of the Western Cape [UWC] this afternoon.

Galaxy Queens were supposed to lock horns with UWC Ladies FC at 15:00 today at UWC Stadium in Cape Town.

Before the game, the league announced that the match would be delayed due to unforeseen circumstances the match will be delayed.

A few minutes after the delay announcement, it league game back to confirm that UWC Ladies had been granted three points as the game was declared a walkover.

This comes after the Mpumalanga-based outfit couldn’t arrive on time for their league tie against UWC. This incident poses a bad image to the league sponsors and the league itself, which is under SAFA.

“TS Galaxy Queens failed to arrive on time for their match against UWC,” said Hollywoodbets Super League in a statement.

“UWC honoured the match and took to the pitch. therefore the match is declared as a walkover. UWC will receive 3 points from this encounter.”

As things stand, it remains unknown what might have caused the Galaxy Queens to arrive late for their league fixture.

Tim Sukazi, the TS Galaxy boss, has been one of the people who have been vocal about the formation of women’s football teams by South African top-flight teams.

Sukazi believes that having women’s football teams by all PSL clubs will help elevate women’s football in South Africa.

He also divulged that he has never been to a PSL meeting where women’s football was on the agenda.

Following today’s incident, it has raised many eyebrows, with Galaxy Queens’ core values and guiding principles questioned.
