Feutmba weighs in on Sundowns technical team developments

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Roger Feutmba has shared his thoughts on the team’s technical team developments.

Sundowns have been forced to change their coaching personnel following the shock departure of Rulani Mokwena.

Mokwena has since signed a three-year-old with Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca. He is joined by former Sundowns DDC coach Sinethemba Badela as his assistant coach.

His departure saw Sundowns recall Steve Komphela as the senior coach. Despite the club not having issued an official confirmation, agent Mike Makaab has hinted that client Manqoba Mngqithi is set to take over the head coach position.

Media reports have also revealed that former AmaZulu FC coach Romain Folz has been roped in as an assistant.

WHAT ROGER FEUTMBA MAKES OF THE NEW MASANDAWANA TECHNICAL TEAM

“Manqoba is not new to the team. He has been around since the time of Pitso and all that,” Fetumba told FARPost.

“Steve Komphela has also been around coaching. So those have been around coaching for a very long time. I believe they have gained a good level of experience.

“They know Sundowns’ philosophy when it comes to the tactical aspect of the game. I don’t even doubt that they will do well,” he said.

FORMER MAMELODI SUNDOWNS MIDFIELD GENERAL SAYS PRESSURE IS NORMAL AT THE CLUB

“A team like Sundowns will always have pressure because of what they want to achieve, because of what the management believes the team has to be,” added Fetumba.

“Considering the level of commitment in terms of the financial aspects the management is bringing in. So there will always be a challenge when you coach a team like Sundowns who want to be the best in Africa.

“As I said, both Manqoba and Komphela have been there and learned from the previous mistakes, especially in the Champions League. The quality of the players that Sundowns have, they can win the Champions League. So just need to focus because what Sundowns is doing is just continuity. There is no nothing more.”
