Former CT Spurs TD Sean lands coaching gig in Botswana

Former Cape Town Spurs technical director [TD] Sean Connor has landed a coaching gig in Botswana ahead of the new 2024/25 season.

Connor has been unattached for a few months after he parted ways with the Urban Warriors in March 2024. It is alleged that he had a fallout with coach Ernst Middendorp, which led to his exit.

Last season, the 57-year-old was the Capetonians’ interim coach for a short time after the sacking of former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs striker Shaun Bartlett in October 2023.

The Northern Irish mentor was in-charge for five matches in all competitions before the club brought in Middendorp. As an interim coach, he won one match and suffered four defeats. That one victory was a big one as CT Spurs defeated Soweto giants Orlando Pirates 2-1 in the DStv Premiership.

SEAN CONNOR APPOINTED MATEBELE FC COACH

Connor has taken on a new challenge: becoming the head coach of Botswana Premier League side Matebele FC. The club announced this on Monday, and he will begin work on 1 August.
