Veteran defender Vuyo Mere has sent a heartwarming message to Kaizer Chiefs-bound goalkeeper Fierce Ntwari, who is set to start his new chapter at the Soweto giants in the 2024/25 season.

The Rwandan international recently signed for ‘The Glamour Boys’ following his impressive displays with TS Galaxy last campaign.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper joined the Rockets in July 2023 from Rwandaise football club APR FC Kigali.

Last season, Ntwari played an integral part in the Mpumalanga-based outfit, featuring in 24 games in all competitions. In the 24 matches he played for the Sead Ramovic-coached side, he kept nine clean sheets and conceded 23 goals.

‘SHOW THEM WHAT YOU’RE MADE OF’: VUYO MERE’S POIGNANT MESSAGE TO CHIEFS-BOUND GOALIE

Mere, who played with Ntwari at Galaxy last season, bid farewell to the talented shot-stopper as he begins his new journey at Amakhosi.

“My boy, it’s so sad to lose someone as bubbly and happy as you,” wrote Mere on his official Instagram account.

“Just a year ago, you came into our team, and you became an integral part of our family. You got your chance and grabbed it with both hands. I am so happy for your career being elevated boy.

“Go on and show them what you made of my Rwandan international. I will surely miss you, my boy. Thanks for all the great memories.”

The goalkeeper will be one of the players unveiled by the Glamour Boys in Bloemfontein when Chiefs take on Tanzanian giants Young Africans in the first edition of the Toyota Cup. The pre-season cup tie will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Toyota Stadium.

The Chiefs are currently in Turkey for their pre-season training camp tour. Ntwari couldn’t join the team due to visa issues.

Amakhosi are expected to touch down in South Africa in the coming days ahead of the Toyota Cup this coming Sunday.
