What Mlungisi Mazibuko makes of Kabelo Sibiya as a coach
Highbury FC’s experienced goalkeeper Mlungisi Mazibuko has shed light on what he makes of the club’s head coach, Kabelo Sibiya, who successfully secured the side promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The Eastern Cape-based outfit gained promotion to the SA football second tier after finishing as one of the top two finalists at the SAFA‘s ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs held in Upington, Northern Cape last month.
As a result, Highbury walked away with the R1 2000 000 prize money, whereas the runner-up, Kruger, pocketed R600 000.
Sibiya-coached side went on to be crowned the 2023/24 ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs champions after beating Kruger United of Mpumalanga 2-0 at Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium.
This was coach Sibiya’s fifth appearance in the national playoffs and his first time winning them as a coach.
WHAT MLUNGISI MAZIBUKO THINKS OF KABELO SIBIYA AS HIS MENTOR
Mlungisi, who also represented teams such as Maritzburg United, Black Leopards, Chippa United, Mthatha Bucks, and Real Kings, was full of praise for his mentor Sibiya, whom he described as a very ambitious coach who is destined for greatness.
“You know coach Kabelo Sibiya is a top coach. He is a young coach with good goals in the future,” Mlungisi told FARPost.
“He boasts a lot of experience because he has coached in the National First Division. Also he has also been in the ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs for so many times.
“And this is his first time winning it. It shows that he has been working very hard to be where he is today.”
Mlungisi, 31, further stated that his mentor “deserves everything that is coming his way” because he has proved that he is one of the best coaches in the country.
“He is really a good coach and he deserves everything that is coming his way. He has been pushing us even if you can see the way we play, it shows that we have got a good and quality coach,” he added.
