Sead Ramovic no-show as TS Galaxy prep for Yanga tie

TS Galaxy arrived in Kanyamazane Stadium on Tuesday evening for their final training session ahead of the Mpumalanga Premier’s International Cup match against Tanzania’s Yanga, but head coach Sead Ramovic was absent.

Ramovic, who has been heavily linked with a move to Moroccan powerhouse Raja Casablanca, was notably absent from the team’s training sessions in the past two days. This has fuelled speculation that his departure from the club is imminent.

Despite Josef Zinnbauer’s recent reaffirmation of his dedication to Raja, it is anticipated that Raja will part ways with him. The former Orlando Pirates mentor guided the Green Eagles to a league and cup double last season. Zinnbauer is linked with a move to the Middle East.

On the other hand, TS Galaxy president Tim Sukazi has reportedly secured a replacement for Ramovic, and an official announcement is anticipated in the coming days. The new coach could lead the Rockets in their highly anticipated match against Germany’s FC Augsburg this Saturday at Mbombela Stadium in the final match of the Mpumalanga Premier’s International Cup.

TS Galaxy president Tim Sukazi confirmed to SABC Sport on Tuesday that coach Sead Ramovic is departing the club to take the helm at the Moroccan powerhouse in the coming days.

“It’s a done deal. Ramovic is expected to fly out after the friendly with Yanga FC, and he will take with him the two assistant coaches, Beganovic Adnan and Kodro Mustafa, as well as goalkeeper coach Greg Etafia,” said Sukazi.

This confirmation puts an end to speculation surrounding Ramovic’s future.

“It is part of our moral fibre to release our people when they are called for better opportunities elsewhere. We’ve mostly done it with our players, and our coaches are not excluded from this governing principle at our Club,” Sukazi added.

“Raja Casablanca is amongst the top 5 clubs in the African continent and it is not so often that a coach gets head-hunted for their head coach position.

“Therefore, our blessings as given to coach Sead Ramovic are informed by our appreciation of the opportunity afforded to him. We wish him well and he will be an extension of our family in Morocco.”
