PSL clubs pledge monetary support for Kgothatso Montjane
Three Limpopo DStv Premiership clubs, Sekhukhune United, Polokwane City FC and Magesi FC, have pledged monetary support for Wimbledon champion Kgothatso Montjane to help her realise her dream of seeing the province build a new tennis court.
Montjane recently became the first black South African woman to win at Wimbledon when she won the wheelchair women’s doubles.
She was honoured by her province on Tuesday in an event attended by all the clubs. The event was attended by amongst others Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba, MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Funani Maseko, Capricorn District Municipality mayor Mamedupi and Polokwane Municipality Mayor John Mpe.

SEKHUKHUNE UNITED AND MAGESI FC ON WHAT PROMPTED THEM TO HELP TENNIS SUPERSTAR
“Dealing with people in sports we understand the challenges. She [Kgothatso Montjane] really found it difficult to have grown to her level without proper infrastructure,” Makgamatha from Magesi told FARPost.
“So these facilities are very important to grow these young talents. So as Magesi, we are so happy that we could assist.”
Sekhukhune United Marketing Manager Tebogo Mapinga has also explained why the club was prompted to offer a helping hand.
“It’s a no-brainer. Having come from these parts of the world, the need for good facilities is important,” he told FARPost.
“So therefore as Sekhukhune United through our executive Chairman, Mr Simon Malatji, we were promoted to give back. The call came from the Montjane Foundation to help with the future Stars and that’s what we are in the business of doing.”
