Sead Ramovic explains why he turned down Raja Casablanca

TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic has explained why he will not be joining Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The German coach, who led PSL side TS Galaxy in their 1-0 defeat against Young Africans in the Mpumalanga Premier’s International Cup on Wednesday, has been a target for Raja Casablanca for several weeks.

In a candid statement, Ramovic addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding his future. “Nothing [is happening]. Until now, nothing has happened. We didn’t agree. We didn’t come to an agreement,” Ramovic told FARPost.

Ramovic further said he prioritises his principles and values over a potentially big move. Indications are that the two parties could not reach an agreement on personal terms, as well as the composition of Ramovic’s coaching staff.

“I can only say I have principles, I have values, I respect myself. Until things are on the table that I believe is the thing to show me that this is not respecting, I will not move at all,” he said. In essence, the Galaxy mentor was saying he would not move unless his suitors demonstrated the respect he felt he deserved.

WHAT TIM SUKAZI SAID ABOUT SEAD RAMOVIC’S RAJA CASABLANCA SAGA

TS Galaxy president Tim Sukazi had previously confirmed Raja Casablanca’s interest in Ramovic. On Wednesday, he said the club is “preparing well and our coach is here”.

“I think I’ve said a mouthful about Raja Casablanca’s interest in Sead Ramovic,” Sukazi told FARPost. “I did say that they are very big—one of the top five on the continent. I did say that if it happens, it’s the greatest opportunity for him as a person and his career. I will support him.

“I haven’t hidden anything about it. It’s not my business; I don’t work for Raja. Whether they conclude or eventually put pen to paper with Sead Ramovic, it is for them to resolve.

“As for TS Galaxy, we are in a good space. You can see we’re preparing very well and our coach is here. Nothing to worry about.”

The Rockets play German Bundesliga outfit Augsburg on Saturday in the final Mpumalanga Premier’s International Cup tie.

Ramovic is expected to be in charge of the club as they enter the final leg of their preseason preparations. The match is scheduled for 3PM at the Mbombela Stadium.
