Ertuğral picks Chiefs’ ‘most important’ signing from club’s recent 3 acquisitions

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertuğral has picked the club’s most significant signing from its recent three acquisitions.

Chiefs have, so far, acquired the services of goalkeeper Fiarce Ntwari from TS Galaxy, Rushwin Dortley from Cape Town Spurs and lured highly-rated left-back, Bongani Sam from arch-rivals, Orlando Pirates.

And for Ertuğral, their most important signing is Dortley who joined from the Urban Warriors.

Firstly, Dortley carved a niche during the 2023/24 PSL season, capturing the attention of several clubs despite CT Spurs’ relegation.

Dortley, went on to captain the South African national team at the 2024 COSAFA Cup, a sign that he is one of the country’s finest prospects in leadership and defensive qualities. In addition, the 22-year-old left-footed centre-back, has reputable ball-playing abilities and versatility.

As such he is seen as a perfect fit in the puzzle for coach Nasreddine Nabi, as he hopes to turn around Chiefs fortunes.

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertuğral has shared his thoughts on the club's signing of promising centre-back, Rushwin Dortley.

WHAT MUHSIN ERTUGRAL SAID ABOUT NEW CHIEFS’ DEFENDER, DORTLEY

Ertuğral is pleased with the club’s decision to sign Dortley, who is earmarked to make a significant impact at Naturena.

“Those are good signings for my opinion. All in positions was needed. Especially Rushwin is a very good signing, very talented and after the adjustment he can go far.

“Obviously the intensity in the premier league is different. I see him going far in his career. It’s important for the club to be back in the race for titles.

“Competition is growth in the quality. I really hope and wish the club can be back on track,” Ertuğral said.

However, Dortley will face stiff competition from Botswana international Thatayaone Ditlhokwe. The Botswana skipper was a key part of the Chiefs’ 2023/24 season, which was sadly marked by poor results.

In addition, Dortley’s age and potential for growth make him a long-term investment for the club, as they hope to end their nine-year PSL title drought.
