Manuel Kambala staying put at Polokwane City

Despite being unveiled as one of the new signings at Mozambique side UD Songo, FARPost has learnt that midfielder Manuel Kambala is staying at Polokwane City for the upcoming season.

Kambala was recently unveiled by Mozambican giants UD Songo as their new acquisition alongside former Mamelodi Sundowns player Luis Miquissone.

“UD Songo announces the return of Manuel Kambala,” the club announced earlier this month.

“Kambala has been in South Africa in recent seasons where he represented Baroka FC [2019 to 2022], Magesi FC [2023] and Polokwane [2023/2024]. Management of Songo Sports Union welcomes Manuel Kambala,” UD Songo’s statement reads.

However, the 32-year-old has been training with Polokwane City since their return from pre-season.

WHY IS MANUEL KAMBALA STAYING AT BETWAY PREMIERSHIP SIDE?

This publication has gathered that the two parties are at loggerheads with regard to contract issues. Unless an amicable solution can be reached, Kambala is set to spend the upcoming season at the club.

Kambala joined Polokwane City after spending one season at Magesi FC while they were campaigning in the first division. He came to South Africa in 2019 after being recommended by former Baroka coach Wedson Nyirenda to the club.

POLOKWANE CITY NOT BUSY IN THE CURRENT TRANSFER WINDOW PERIOD

Speculation has been rife that the club is set to lose one of their key players Oswin Appolis. The 22-year-old Bafana Bafana star has been linked with moves to Soweto giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

Right-back Thabang Matuludi has also reportedly been on the wanted list of a number of clubs in the Betway Premiership. The 25-year-old was part of the Bafana Bafana squad at the recently concluded COSAFA Cup. So far, the club has parted ways with players such as Ndumiso Mabena, Lucky Baloyi and Given Mashikinya.
