Kgaogelo Sekgota opens up on his stay at Kaizer Chiefs

Newly signed Magesi FC winger Kgaogelo Sekgota has made an honest admission about his stay at Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs. Sekgota spent two seasons at Amakhosi between 2021 and 2023.

The 27-year-old’s stay at the club did not live up to expectations which saw him move to Stellenbosch FC. However, the former Bidvest Wits player didn’t stay for long at Stellies and was released after just six months.

He has now joined newly promoted Betway Premiership side Magesi and was unveiled on Friday.

“My stay at Chiefs was incredible. I was not getting enough game time but I believe that was the right time for me to be at the right place,” he told FARPost.

“As a player, you can always fight. As a player, you can always do as much but when it’s time for you to be where you have to be, then you have to appreciate and face a new journey as a person.

“Everything is a journey so you overcome and you learn. So in football, you can never tell yourself where you will be at any time.

“I don’t want to lie to you, Chiefs is a good team, it’s a big team. Chiefs have everything. The technical team of Chiefs, the Chairman, Mr Bobby [Motaung], Kaizer [Motaung Jr].

“I can mention them all. They are very professional and I don’t regret any day of me being at Kaizer Chiefs. I am proud of my stay at Kaizer Chiefs.

“You can fail as a person to be better. You can be better to fail so in life you can always do what you can do best and the results will always be the results that you can face.”
