Muhsin Ertuğral’s advice to Nasreddine Nabi
Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertuğral has shared an honest piece of advice to new Amakhosi coach, Nasreddine Nabi.
Nabi took charge of the Soweto giants earlier this month, replacing Cavin Johnson, who was sacked in June.
The Tunisian coach brought in a new technical team consisting of his trusted lieutenant. These include Fernando da Cruz and Khalil Ben Youssef, who are his first and second assistant coaches, respectively.
IIyes Mzoughi is the goalkeeper’s coach, while Majdi Safi took over the strength and conditioning role.
Unlike the previous expatriate coaches that have presided over Chiefs, Nabi has no local coach among his assistants.
And for Ertuğral, that is an area of concern, where Nabi must trade with caution if he is to be successful at Kaizer Chiefs.
MUHSIN ERTRUGAL’S WORDS OF ADVICE TO THE NEW AMAKHOSI COACH, NABI
As such, the Turkish mentor has advised Nabi as he braces for what is likely to be a riveting sojourn at the helm of the club. Ertugral is one of the expatriate coaches who did well at AmaKhosi in the early 2000s.
He said: “Everyone has his own views. Sometimes it’s better to see and try to find out their own mistakes as some opinions might not be what’s needed. Obviously, that needs time.
“For myself, I would prefer a local coach next to me. Everyone has their way of working and needs to be respected. As I said earlier, what is important is how to get out of the blocks in competition.
” The club has suffered and is under a microscope and tremendous pressure. What is important is the improvement of the team and obviously, it’s a result-oriented business,” Ertuğral told FARPost.
Nabi is poised for his first competitive match on Sunday against his former team Young Africans in the inaugural Toyota Cup. The match will be played at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein at 3pm.
The Toyota Cup is a brand-new annual tournament launched in partnership with Toyota South Africa Motors.
And Nabi will be hoping to get positive results after their highly publicised pre-season camp in Turkey.
