Kgaogelo Sekgota opens up on dealing with life difficulties
Magesi FC midfielder Kgaogelo Sekgota has opened up about the personal challenges he’s faced, which contributed to his unexpected departure from Stellenbosch FC.
Sekgota has now joined the Limpopo club after spending half of the season unattached.
Stellies coach Steve Barker cited disciplinary problems after the club released both Sekgota and Darrel Matsheke.
But the 27-year-old has received another lifeline to resurrect his career at the newly promoted Betway Premiership side.
KGAOGELO SEKGOTA REFLECTS ON HIS SHOCK EXIT AT STELLENBOSCH FC
“First of all I don’t regret being at Stellenbosch, I am proud of the club and I also won a Cup and it’s something that I will never forget,” he told FARPost.
“As I said, when it’s the right time for you to be at a certain place, it’s the right time. When it’s time to leave the club then it’s time.”

When asked about the allegations that he was chased by the club due to off-field discipline issues, Sekgota said he knew nothing about it. However, he acknowledged experiencing life challenges, which he asserts he has conquered.
“I don’t know anything about that [allegations of misconduct]. In life as a person you have challenges. Any challenge can distract you from performing at your best. You can have any challenge in life but you have to overcome any challenge and I am dealing with my challenges too,” he said.
“I am in a good space to play football, I am in a good space to bring back the Kgaogelo that people love and support.
‘A challenge can be a challenge for any human being. But I am overcoming my challenges and there are still more challenges coming and I am ready to overcome them.”
