Nasresddine Nabi’s reaction to his first match
Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has reflected on the 4-0 loss to Young Africans during the Toyota Cup friendly match in Mangaung on Sunday.
It was Nabi’s first match in charge of Amakhosi since his appointment earlier this month.
The Tunisian tactician also used the match to give some young players in his first match in charge. The 58-year-old also used young players such as Nkosana Mbuthu, Samkelo Zwane and Mfundo Vilakazi.
KAIZER CHIEFS COACH PICKS UP ASPECTS TO IMPROVE FROM HIS TEAM
“Today’s [Sunday] match helped me so much, why? Because it gave me an opportunity to know exactly a little bit about my players collectively and individually,” he said.
“I am very happy [that I saw my team]. I am not happy to lose any game. Even if I don’t win at training, I can’t be happy because I am a winner and I have a winning mentality,” he added.
“I don’t accept losing. Let me say I won today, as an example. All people will be saying Chiefs have hit a turnaround and praising my name.”
WHY NASREDDINE NABI WAS PLEASED ABOUT THE MATCH AGAINST YOUNG AFRICANS DESPITE THE LOSS
“Today we observed some positive aspects. It’s not my problem if people don’t know football and don’t see [what we gained] today because we lost a friendly match.
“But I know what negative today and which positive [my team has]. This is the objective of today’s match, okay.”
Nabi admits that there is a need to beef up his squad this season but doesn’t want to divulge which position.
“The team needs quality, but I am sorry I can’t tell you which positions because I have respect for all my players. This is an internal matter with my management in terms of what I need. But if I tell you in which position it will be disrespectful to my players.”
Chiefs will start their league campaign against Marumo gallants before they travel to Stellenbosch FC. in their second match.
