Rulani Mokwena eyeing Aziz Ki, Gamondi confirms Wydad’s interest

Young Africans coach Miguel Gamondi has confirmed Wydad Athletic Club‘s interest in his talisman Stephane Aziz Ki.

Wydad, under the newly appointed head coach Rulani Mokwena, has wasted no time in bolstering their squad, announcing four new signings as they prepare for the upcoming season.

However, the club’s ambitions don’t stop there, as Wydad have reportedly expressed a keen interest in securing the services of Yanga’s star midfielder, Aziz Ki.

Mokwena has been an admirer of Ki since his time at Mamelodi Sundowns. He has now made it clear to the Wydad management that the Tanzanian top goal scorer and 2024/25 top goal scorer is a priority target.

Wydad has already secured the services of goalkeeper Abdelali Mhamdi, left-back Jawad Khalouk, right-back Mohamed Moufid, and winger Mohamed Rayhi. These signings, coupled with the assembly of a new technical team led by Alan Freese as Technical Advisor, demonstrate Mokwena’s intent to build a formidable squad capable of challenging for top honours.

The pursuit of Aziz Ki further highlights Mokwena’s ambition and strategic vision to turn around the fortunes of the ailing Casablanca giant. The Burkina Faso midfielder’s goalscoring prowess and overall impact on the pitch are elements Mokwena craves in Wydad’s attacking play.

WHAT GAMONDI SAID ABOUT WYDAD’S PURSUIT OF AZIZ KI

“It’s true Wydad made an offer. Stephane Aziz Ki is committed to our project. You know he cannot move anywhere,” Gamondi said.

The Ivory Coast-born playmaker recently signed a new two-year contract with the club.
“Aziz is a fantastic player; he knows he needs to be in the right place as well … where he can develop his talent,” added Gamondi. “We are so quiet we work in silence and make the player happy.”

Aziz Ki has previously told FARPost that he is happy at the Tanzanian giants. He will be key as Yanga make forays into the CAF ChampionsLeague again this season.
