Ex-Orlando Pirates midfielder resurfaces at Baroka

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Collins Makgaka has resurfaced at Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC.

Makgaka has been a free agent since parting ways with Betway Premiership club Sekhukhune United at the end of last season.

The 28-year-old only featured in three matches in the CAF Confederation and the Nedbank Cup in the colours of Sekhukhune.

COLLINS MAKGAKA TO REJOIN MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE?

FARPost spotted Makgaka playing for Baroka during the Limpopo pre-season cup over the weekend. This publication has gathered that Makgaka has not yet signed on the dotted line but continues to be assessed by the club.

Makgaka began his professional career at the same club prior to their promotion to the elite league in 2016.

He played for the club until 2020 when he was signed by Soweto giants Orlando Pirates. A three-year spell at the Buccaneers saw Makgaka struggle for game time. He parted ways with the club in 2023 when he secured a move to Sekhukhune.

WHO ARE THE OTHER PLAYERS TRYING THEIR LUCK WITH BAROKA FC?

As FARPost reported, veteran striker Siphelele Mthembu has been training with the club. He also featured during the pre-season tournament over the weekend. Indications are that Baroka are keen to tie down the 36-year-old striker, who spent the last season at Pretoria Callies.

The club has reportedly also signed dribbling wizard Mthokozisi ‘Dancing Confidence’ Ngcobo from amateur club AT Mambas. Ngcobo has joined the club on a three-year contract.

The club has also welcomed back defender Bonginkosi Makume.

Makume left the club in 2022 to join Maritzburg United. But after one season at the club, Makume joined Upington City FC where he spent only six months.

He spent the last six months of last season on the sidelines after struggling to get paper to sign for Baroka.
