‘Oswin Appollis staying put’ – Polokwane City FC coach
Polokwane City FC coach Phuti Mohafe insists Oswin Appollis’s mind is still focused on the club amid talks of an imminent exit.
The Bafana Bafana star has been linked with a move to Betway Premiership teams, including Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
The 22-year-old has also been linked with a move to Tunisia giants Espérance. The four-times CAF Champions League winners are said to have tabled an offer to City and are awaiting feedback.
Appolis had a superb season for the Limpopo side in 2023/24, also earning a call-up by Hugo Broos to the AFCON tournament.

“I also heard that there is talk about him [and Espérance’s interest],” coach Mohafe told the media. As I previously said, for me as a coach to release him, I will only allow him to go abroad [Europe]. But that doesn’t depend on me; it’s not in my capacity.
“It’s the management’s decision to say he may or may not go. But what I know now is that he is staying put with the club,” he said.

“He is working 100 per cent and is willing to play against Sundowns,” added Mohafe. “He is willing to play against the other teams in the league, but his mind is still with Polokwane City.”
Plk City are yet to officially announce their new signings ahead of the new season. But Mohafe says there are some new and exciting additions that will be revealed soon.
“The pre-season has been hectic, and it’s going very well. We played some friendlies and brought in some new and exciting players. The energy will be there. We just want to improve from the previous season.”
