Themba Zwane’s take on Kodisang’s Sundowns move
Mamelodi Sundowns talisman Themba Zwane has shared his thoughts on the club’s acquisition of South African attacker Kobamelo Kodisang ahead of the new season.
Kodisang, a gifted midfielder, returns to the SA elite league after a six-year European sojourn. The 24-year-old previously showcased his talent with PSL outfits Platinum Stars [now defunct] and Bidvest Wits. Last season, he plied his trade for Portuguese club Moreirense FC.
In the 2023/24 season, the talented midfielder made 33 appearances in all competitions. The Bafana Bafana international managed to find the back of the net once and grabbed three assists.
Kodisang was Masandawana’s first signing ahead of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership and was part of the squad that travelled to Austria for their pre-season camp.
The Tswane giants also bolstered their squad by acquiring the services of Brazilian centre-forward Arthur de Oliviera Sales, Asekho Tiwani and Kegan Johannes from Sekhukhune United and SuperSport United, respectively.
THEMBA ZWANE COMMENTS ON KOBAMELO KODISANG
‘Mshishi’ says he was surprised to see Kodisang return to SA and sign for Sundowns. Zwane hopes Kodisang can add more value to the club by winning more trophies.
“I was surprised, I was not following him that side. But I was surprised when he came back, said Zwane.
“But he’s a good player. We’re happy that he took that decision and came back to try to win us trophies.
“It shows that they [Mamelodi Sundowns] want quality players and a quality squad so that we can compete. He can dribble and create those goals.”
Kodisang is in line to make his Mamelodi Sundowns debut in the MTN8 quarter-finals. The Tshwane side will host Polokwane City FC, last season’s league returnees, on Sunday, 11 August. Kickoff at Lucas Moripe Stadium is at 3PM.
