Ex-Chiefs defender Yagan Sasman finds new club
FARPost has it on good authority that former Kaizer Chiefs defender Yagan Sasman has signed for Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars ahead of the new season.
This publication understands that the ex-Moroka Swallows man has penned a one-year deal with Casric.
As previously reported by this website three weeks ago, Sasman was trying his luck with the Betway Premiership newbies Magesi FC with the hope of securing a permanent deal.
However, the Limpopo club decided not to sign the 28-year-old defender after he failed to impress following several weeks of training with the side in Polokwane.
YAGAN SASMAN HAS BEEN WITHOUT A CLUB SINCE JANUARY 2024
Sasman has been without a club since January 2024, after he cut ties with the Swedish club AFC Eskilstuna.
He signed for Eskilstuna, who competed in the Swedish second-tier league last year, intending to help the club survive the chop.
Sadly, Eskilstuna were relegated after finishing the season in position 16 after collecting 31 points from 30 games.
In his football career, Sasman also represented Ajax Cape Town [now known as Cape Town Spurs], where he started in their junior ranks.
With the new Motsepe Foundation Championship term looming large, Casric will be hoping that Sasman will help them achieve their ultimate goal of gaining promotion to the Betway Premiership.
Meanwhile, as first reported by FARPost, Casric also roped in veteran football administrator Peter Koutroulis, who helped Magesi gain automatic promotion to the SA elite league. The club also recruited Selaoetse ‘Sly’ Mosala, who will serve as an assistant coach at the club.
Last season, Casric finished seventh on the Motsepe Foundation Championship log standings with 43 points after 30 outings. In those 30 matches, the side managed to secure 11 wins, draw 10, and lose nine.
