Sundowns snap up Sekhukhune’s tactical mastermind
Just a day before Sekhukhune United kick off their MTN8 campaign, Mamelodi Sundowns have snapped up their tactical mastermind.
Babina Noko start their campaign against Cape Town City in the first leg of the quarterfinal on Saturday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
But they will have to do without highly rated tactical and opposition analyst Tinashe Shingai Mukandatsama. He was seen at Sundowns’ headquarters on Friday afternoon, signalling an imminent move to the defending Betway Premiership champions.
Mukandatsama, who has been instrumental in Sekhukhune United’s rise to prominence, including a fourth-place finish and securing a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup, is believed to have parted ways with the club. He cut his teeth in performance analysis at the Limpopo club, working with different coaches in recent seasons.
WHY MAMELODI SUNDOWNS ARE KEEN ON SEKHUKHUNE’S TACTICAL MASTERMIND
His departure comes as Sundowns seek to fill the void left by the exit of several key technical team members. Following the exit of head coach Rulani Mokwena, performance analysts Sibusiso Makitla and Dayle Solomons, both left the club. Strength and conditioning coach Sibusiso Mahlangu also followed.
The Brazilians are looking to fill those vacant positions. A rising star in the world of football analysis, Mukandatsama has previously been called up for national duty, serving as part of the Under-20 men’s National Team.
His experience and expertise would undoubtedly be a valuable asset to Sundowns as they look to maintain their dominance in South African football and compete on the continental stage.
The move also gives him the chance to work more on the continent, as Sundowns are scheduled to compete in the Champions League, African Football League, and FIFA World Club Cup.
While neither club has officially confirmed the move, Mukandatsama’s presence at Sundowns suggests that a deal may be in the works.
