‘We are not Cape Town Spurs’ – Clinton Larsen

Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen has urged his players to fight harder in order to earn their place in the Betway Premiership.

The Betway Premiership newcomers Magesi recently announced the signing of 13 new layers ahead of the new season.

They will open their campaign in a Limpopo derby against Sekhukhune United on Saturday, 14 September. Unlike Cape Town Spurs who were relegated after just one season in the elite league, Larsen wants his players to show a fight in the premiership.

CLINTON LARSEN DOESN’T WANT HIS TEAM TO EMULATE CAPE TOWN SPURS IN THEIR FIRST BETWAY PREMIERSHIP SEASON

“This beast called the Betway Premiership. If you are not ready for it, it will spit you out,” said Larsen.

“We have to come out fighting, gentlemen. We have to come out fighting. We are not Cape Town Spurs, we are here to fight, to earn respect,” he said.

“I am not here to talk about the top eight and winning a Cup and playing in the CAF Champions League. I am here to say Magesi FC must earn the respect. Firstly of our opponents. Secondly, of the South African football public. To do that, we have to go out and fight every week and I believe this team will do it.”

The club has brought in players such as Gift Motupa, Kgaogelo Sekgota, Lebogang Mabotja, Delano Abrahams and Wonderboy Makhubu.

“Council approved the request by Magesi Football Club to partner with the municipality in hosting their home games in Polokwane for the 2024/25 season,” said the municipality.

“Magesi will play most of their games at the revamped Seshego stadium. The football club was crowned NFD champions for the 2023/2024 season and will now compete in the 2024/2025 PSL elite league.”
