Chiefs confirm two new signings

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of midfielder Gaston Sirino and defender Bongani Sam ahead of the new season.

Sirino joins on a two-year deal after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season.

Sam also joins Amakhosi from rivals Orlando Pirates whom he joined in 2019.

“Kaizer Chiefs have strengthened their squad in the attacking department with the acquisition of attacker, Gaston Sirino,” the club said.

“The Uruguayan has penned a two-year contract with the Glamour Boys.”

Sirino is set to join his new teammates this week as they continue their preparation for the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

“We have decided to add some experience in our team by bringing in Sirino,” club Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr was quoted on the Chiefs website.

“We know his quality and we believe he will help us this coming season and looking forward to him sharing his experience with our younger players. Gaston’s ability to unlock a tight defence with his guile and craft will add an extra dimension to the team’s creativity and his attributes fit with our idea of how we want to play,” added Motaung Jr.

BONGANI SAM OFFICIALLY UNVEILED AFTER JOINING FROM BETWAY PREMIERSHIP RIVALS

“Kaizer Chiefs have added another player to their squad with defender Bongani Sam joining the team from Orlando Pirates,” Chiefs announced.

“The Glamour Boys have secured the 26-year-old left-back/winger on a 3-year contract, with a 1-year option.”

Sam spent the past season on loan at Moroka Swallows. He joined his new teammates during their pre-season tour in Türkiye but picked up an injury.

“We are really excited to have Bongani Sam in our fold,” said Motaung Jr.

“Given his age, which is 26, he has amassed quite a bit of experience having played for several teams in the Premiership since he started his top-flight career seven years ago. We do wish him well and we know he will fit in as part of the Kaizer Chiefs Family.”
