Fabian McCarthy’s call to current Kaizer Chiefs squad

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Fabian McCarthy has made a call to the current squad to improve their performances.

McCarthy is the father to the upcoming Chiefs defender Aden McCarthy, who is in the first team.

Chiefs just started a new era under the leadership of experienced Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi.

The advantage is that Nabi came with his own technical team, which includes assistant coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Fernando Da Cruz. There is also a goalkeeper coach, Ilyes Mzoughi, and a strength and conditioning coach, Safi Majdi.

Last Sunday, the Glamour Boys were humiliated 4-0 by Tanzanian giants Young Africans in a pre-season friendly match, the Toyota Cup at the Toyota Stadium, Bloemfontein.

It was Nabi’s first match in SA in front of the Amakhosi faithful, a result that they didn’t want.

McCARTHY SAYS CHIEFS PLAYERS SHOULD PLAY THEIR PART AND ASSIST THE TECHNICAL TEAM TO SUCCEED

McCarthy says Chiefs players should support Nabi and the new technical, which is experienced and that comes in highly-rated.

“We are welcoming the new technical team; they have some time to settle in. The players just have to respond to the coaches’ philosophy and try to understand and be responsible on and off the field,” McCarthy told FARPost.

“They should be leaders. There are players there. It’s a nice group; they just need to show more. [I mean] more character, leadership, hunger, and determination on the field of play.

“Break the leg if you can on the field of play,  not physically, but leave everything on the field. If you get 10 minutes, if you get 15 minutes, if you start, give your all.”

Chiefs are preparing for the start of the Betway Premiership. They will start their campaign on Saturday, 3 August. The Glamour Boys will face Marumo Gallants at Toyota Stadium at 3PM.
