SuperSport United sign Rushine De Reuck’s younger brother
SuperSport United have signed Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rushine De Reuck’s younger brother Rayden De Reuck from the amateur side Young Bafana.
Young Bafana, the club where Rayden De Reuck spent the entirety of last season, competes in the SAFA Western Cape ABC Motsepe League – SA’s third-tier league.
His brother, Rushine De Reuck, turns out for PSL champions Sundowns, with whom he has won several major trophies with in recent years.
The promising 19y-year-old centre-back will join Matsatsantsa’s DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] side for the upcoming new season.
SuperSport is a team that invests heavily in youngsters, who, in turn, yield fruitful results for the club and attract the attention of bigger clubs season in and season out. For example, players such as Shandre Campbell, who recently joined Belgian giants Club Brugge.
The Amajita defender, De Reuck, will be gunning to impress Matsatsantsa’s technical team and earn his promotion to the senior team.
YOUNG BAFANA’S OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON DE REUCK
“Yet another Young Bafana player has been transferred to a professional club,” reads the club’s official statement. “Rayden De Reuck, central defender, with an ABC season at Young Bafana, has made the move from the Cape to the PSL outfit [SuperSport United] in Johannesburg.”
Meanwhile, Young Bafana founder Bernd Steinhage expressed his delight to see their players secure moves to bigger clubs in PSL from the amateur side.
“As we continue to develop the person first, we take great pride in offering our players a platform to make the most out of their footballing careers,” said Steinhage.
OTHER PLAYERS WHO HAVE BEEN SIGNED BY SUPERSPORT UNITED
SuperSport have been one of the busiest clubs in this transfer window period as a part of strengthening their squad for the new season. Some of the new players that have joined Gavin Hunt-coached side are Nyiko Mobbie, Vincent Pule, Keanin Ayer, Brooklyn Poggenpoel, Pogiso Sanoka, Thakasani Mbanjwa, just to mention a few.
Unfortunately, SuperSport started the new season on the wrong foot. This comes after they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 quarter-final at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
Matsatsantsa will now go back to the drawing board to fix where they got it wrong against the Buccaneers before the commencement of the Betway Premiership next month.
