Tebogo Motlanthe officially returns to SAFA as new COO
The SA Football Association [SAFA] have announced the return of Advocate Tebogo Motlanthe as the association’s new Chief Operations Officer [COO].
Motlanthe previously served as CEO at SAFA until he resigned in April 2023. He now takes over as COO, a position that has been vacant since May 2023. This was after the COO Lydia Monyepao was appointed CEO to take over from Motlanthe.
Motlanthe was reported to have joined the newly promoted Motsepe Foundation Championship side Kruger United as the CEO.

SAFA President Danny Jordaan welcomed back Motlanthe and said he has already hit the ground running.
“The position of COO has been entrenched at SAFA. But it was vacant, so we are happy that Adv Motlanthe has agreed to return,” he said.
“We want to make sure that we have winning national teams, we want to strengthen schools sport, we want to qualify for the FIFA Women’s and Men’s World Cups, AFCON and WAFCON, strengthen our administration and also work on the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup bid.”

Motlanthe has also expressed his delight in being back at the SAFA house.
“I am happy to be back and part of a collective that is working on making SAFA a world-class organisation,” he was quoted by the SAFA media team.
Motlanthe holds a FIFA Diploma in Football Law and is a Confederation of African Football [CAF] Instructor for Club Licensing. He previously served as a senior Manager for legal and membership affairs at the association.
Motlanthe was also actively involved during the ABC Motsepe League National playoffs, which took place in Upington.
