Cole Alexander addresses ‘tricky’ Appollis and Matuludi situation

Polokwane City FC midfielder Cole Alexander has described the transfer talks surrounding teammates Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi as a tricky situation.

There has been speculation around the future of Bafana Bafana winger with reports of interest from clubs such as Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Esperance in Tunisia.

Matuludi as well has been rumoured to have attracted interest from Betway Premiership clubs. But both players look likely to remain at the club for the 2024/25 season.

Alexander says it does not surprise him that there are clubs keen on signing the two players, but he admits that the duo staying at the club is also good for the club.

POLOKWANE CITY VETERAN MIDFIELDER NOT SURPRISED BY INTEREST IN KEY PLAYERS

“I am not surprised at all [by the interest in Appolis and Matuludi],” he told the media.

“They are phenomenal players, and it’s very tough because, from my side, I want what’s best for the club. But also, as a father and a family man, I want what’s best for the player and his family. So it’s a very tricky situation,” he said.

WHY COLE ALEXANDER BELIEVES IT’S BEST IF OSWIN APPOLLIS AND THABANG MATULUDI STAY AT THE CLUB

“Ultimately, I don’t know what’s going to happen. But those are two important players for the club, and I think, listening to our chairman, he wants to build this brand and grow it.

“By losing some of the key players, that’s something that won’t help the club. If they are here the brand gets bigger and stronger.  We can reach more things together as a team. So it’s a very complex situation, and I can’t say much about it, but for me, I want what’s best for the club and the player. So we will see; God knows what will happen.”

Polokwane City will travel to Lucas Moripe Stadium for the MTN8 quarter-final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday. This is their first MTN8  qualification since their return to the elite league.
