Azam coach addresses Feisal Salum to Sundowns speculation

Azam FC coach Bruno Ferry has addressed speculation surrounding Feisal Salum’s potential move to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Tanzanian international’s name has been linked with Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs in recent times.

Salum, who made his name at Young Africans under newly appointed Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi, is rated one of the best midfielders in Tanzania.

The 26-year-old’s links with Betway Premiership giants aren’t shocking at all, considering his run in the 2023/24 season.

Salum, who can operate as a 6, 8 or 10, was the second top goal scorer with 19 goals. Stephane Aziz Ki, his former Yanga teammate, topped the scoring charts with 21 goals.

‘Fei Toto’ is press resistant, splits lines with pinpoint passes, and never stops running – a midfield engine that powers his team for the entire match.

Ahead of the Community Shield final at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Sunday, Ferry addressed the midfielder’s future. Salum, a Zanzibar native, signed a three-year deal in June last year on a three-year deal. It means he’s left with two years on his Azam deal.

WHAT BRUNO FERRY SAID ABOUT FEISAL SALUM TO MAMELODI SUNDOWNS SPECULATION

“What I see, honestly. I see a player who’s happy to be in Azam to play in this championship,” Ferry told FARPost. “I don’t see that he doesn’t have ambition [to move in future]. But I think for the moment, he is fine where he is, you know.”

“Sometimes, it’s important to find a good path for yourself and your career, so you should have ambition. I think he has ambition, but maybe he’s waiting for the right moment to sign somewhere else. But there’s nothing at the moment, nothing that I know.”

Salum comes face to face against his former team, Yanga, on Sunday in the final. He will be looking to inflict pain and give Azam a good start to the season with a Community Shield triumph.
