Morgan Mammila sends message to doubters ahead of new season

Baroka FC head coach Morgan Mammila has sent a message to his doubters ahead of the new campaign in the second-tier league.

‘Pound for pound’, as he’s famously known, took charge of Baroka FC during last season’s PSL Promotional/Relegation playoffs following the sacking of Dan Malesela.

He oversaw the team in three matches, resulting in two draws and a loss. However, the team ultimately fell short as Richards Bay FC successfully retained its top-flight status.

Mammila says he isn’t in the game for praises and feels doubters will always be around for any coach.

He pointed out that if Rulani Mokwena, who won the league and was honored as the PSL Coach of the Season, can face criticism, he too is prepared for the doubts regarding his capabilities.

MORGAN MAMMILA SAYS HE’S NOT HERE FOR PRAISES

“They will never stop, it doesn’t start with me and it will never end with me,” Mammila said during his interview with FARPost.

“The coach [Rulani] won the league and PSL Coach of the Season award. They thought he’s not good enough.

“Who am I to want people to praise me? it’s not about praise. We praise you today and tomorrow we forget. That’s football.”

Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele will be aiming for an automatic promotion next season having failed to secure top-flight spot through the playoffs.

The former Chippa United mentor believes using their own facilities unlike other clubs, they already have an “upper hand” to do better than their competitors in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

“We are one of those teams that have everything for this level,” added Mammila.

“We’re training at our own stadium, playing at our own stadium, no disturbance.

“I think we have an upper hand.”
