Miguel Inacio set for Kaizer Chiefs switch, deal agreed with Petro de Luanda

Kaizer Chiefs have pulled off their most significant transfer coup yet, securing the services of Angolan international centre-back Inacio Miguel from Petro de Luanda.

The two clubs have finalised the transfer fee, and Inacio is expected to sign this week after agreeing to personal terms.

This marks Chiefs’ fifth signing of the transfer window, following the arrivals of Bongani Sam, Rushwin Dortley, Fiacre Ntwari, and Gaston Sirino.

The 28-year-old defender, who can also play as a right-back, was a standout performer for Petro de Luanda last season in the Angolan elite league.

Standing tall at 1.85m, he brings a combination of physical strength, aerial ability, and technical skill to his game. In addition, his defensive prowess is reflected in his statistics: 1.5 tackles and 3.2 clearances per game in the 2023/24 season.

WHY MIGUEL INACIO WILL BE KEY FOR NASREDDINE NABI

Beyond his defensive duties, Inacio’s composure on the ball and accurate passing enable him to contribute to his team’s build-up play. This is considered a crucial element for defenders in head coach Nasreddine Nabi’s system.

Inacio’s disciplined approach is underscored by his clean disciplinary record, having received only three yellow cards and no red cards last season.

The Portugal-born star’s CAF Champions League experience and across different leagues, including stints in Latvia and Romania, highlights his versatility and adaptability. This exposure to various footballing styles should equip him well for the challenges of the PSL.

The likes of Dortley and Given Msimango are likely to benefit from playing alongside the Angolan international.

Furthermore, Chiefs fans will be eagerly anticipating Inacio’s debut as the club continues to strengthen its squad for the upcoming season.

Interestingly, Chiefs have prioritised strengthening their defence this season, with three of their new signings focused on bolstering the backline. This strategic move comes after the Soweto giants conceded 30 goals last season, indicating a clear intent to address their defensive vulnerabilities.
