PLK City coach Mohafe: ‘This Appollis issue becoming a big issue for me’
Polokwane City FC coach Phuti Mohafe has once again addressed star player Oswin Appollis’ situation at the club amidst transfer speculation.
With the transfer window still open and teams beefing up their squads ahead of the new season, Appollis has been linked with a move away from Rise and Shine.
Betway Premiership giants, including Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, have been rumoured to be interested in acquiring the services of the Bafana Bafana star. On the African continent, the 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Tunisian powerhouse Espérance, who recently signed another Bafana star Elias Mokwana from Sekhukhune United.
Other teams that are said to be gunning for the attacker’s signature are Wydad Casablanca of Rulani Mokwena, Egyptian giants Zamalek and MC Alger.
A few weeks back, Mohafe confidently stated that Appollis was staying put at PLK City. The talented attacker was fully focused, gearing up for the new 2024/25 campaign.
On Sunday, in a narrow 1-0 defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-finals, Appollis was named on the bench. He was introduced as a second-half substitute.

The mentor admitted that Appollis’ situation is now becoming an issue for the club. But he further stated that the club has it’s unique way of handling matters and doing things.
“This [Oswin] Appollis issue is becoming a big issue for me, in fact,” said Mohafe. “But I think every team has its way of doing things. With Oswin it’s not different with the way that we want to do things.
Mohafe further cleared the air by explaining the decision to bench their star player against the Tshwane giants.
“But I think it was all in all of a technical aspect of the match of how we wanted to counteract how [Mamelodi] Sundowns were about to give and what they’re coming with to us,” he added.
