Venda FC announce eight new signings

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda FC have announced the signing of eight new players, including a Ugandan international, ahead of the new 2024/25 season in the second-tier league.

The club has retained their technical team from the previous season, led by coach Duncan Lechesa.

As FARPost had earlier reported, former Moroka Swallows striker Daniel Gozar had been training with the club. He was one of the players unveiled by the club on Sunday.

WHO ARE THE OTHER NEW SIGNINGS UNVEILED BY VENDA FC?

Mpheni Defenders captain Lufuno ‘Kante’ Ndou has joined after a successful season in the SAFA ABC Motsepe League. Tzaneen United duo Thapelo Sekgobela and Brendan Baloyi have also joined the club.

Venda have also signed Mamelodi Sundowns DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] goalkeeper Fanie Ndamulelo Raludzingana. Siyabonga Eric Dubula has left JDR Stars to join the club.

SAFA Vhembe Champ of Champs outstanding player Leon Sithole has also penned a professional contract with the club.

Highly-rated Ugandan International Charles Lukwago has also arrived in South Africa and was officially unveiled by the club.

MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON A FEW DAYS AWAY FROM KICK-OFF

Venda FC will kick start their season with a home clash against Milford FC at Thohoyandou Stadium on 24 August. Their second match will be away to Cape Town Spurs, who were just relegated back to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Their first Vhembe derby against their biggest rivals, Black Leopards, will be on Saturday, 11 January, at Thohoyandou Stadium. The second-round derby match will be on 25 April at the same venue.

The club will wrap up the season with Motsepe Foundation Championship newbies Kruger United away on Sunday, 18 May 2025.

There have also been reports that the club will use the Malamulele Stadium as its alternative venue, as it did last season.
