Kaitano Tembo set for sensational Sekhukhune United return
Former SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo is set for a sensational return to Sekhukhune United.
The Zimbabwean tactician previously led Babina Noko in June 2022 but departed in November of the same year due to a string of disappointing results in the PSL.
Under Tembo’s guidance, Sekhukhune managed only two victories in 12 league matches. The club recently parted ways with German coach Peter Hyballa and has reappointed Lehlohonolo Seema as head coach. Tembo has been offered the opportunity to work alongside Seema as his assistant.
MacDonald Makhubedu, who oversaw the team’s MTN8 match against Cape Town City FC, is expected to retain his position within the technical team.
Tembo’s return marks a significant development for Sekhukhune United as they look to strengthen their technical team ahead of the new season. The combination of Seema’s leadership and Tembo’s expertise could prove to be a winning formula for the club, injecting fresh energy and ideas into the squad.
WHERE HAS KAITANO TEMBO BEEN?
The Zimbabwean mentor had a stint with Richards Bay FC last season before being shown the exit door on Christmas Day. He was strongly linked with the Zimbabwe national team job. But the move did not materialise.
Tembo has worked under Gavin Hunt, Stuart Baxter and Eric Tinkler. He was an assistant coach to Hunt, Baxter and Tinkler before taking over as head coach in 2018 at SuperSport.
During his time as coach at the club, Tembo reached two MTN8 Cup finals, winning his first trophy against Highlands Park in 2019.
